Feel The Steel!
We often talk about “pulling back” on the bar as it passes your knees in a clean or snatch. Other ways to say this include “scoop the bar,” “sweep it back,” and now “feel the steel!”
Whatever the cue, the point is that we don’t want the bar to go in a straight line once it passes your knees – it needs to come back into your hips if you’re going to receive it in a good position (i.e. not chase it forward).
