Workout of the Day

Partner Workout! You-Go/I-Go
“Kalsu Meets Fran”

For time:
150 Thrusters @ 95/65#
Starting at 0:00, 5 Pullups EMOM

In this workout, every minute starts with 5 pullups and is followed by as many thrusters as possible. Partners alternate work with each minute until they have collectively accumulated 150 thrusters between them.

Kalsu

If you spend any time on CrossFit message boards (who would possibly do that?), you’ll inevitably run across threads discussing the hardest workout that people have ever done. Anyone who has ever attempted Kalsu claims that it is hands down the hardest. What is it?

“Kalsu”
For time:
100 Thrusters @ 135/95#
5 Burpees EMOM

Lots of things make this hard – the weight of the thruster being primary. Both thrusters and burpees shoot your heart rate through the roof. Thrusters and burpees also use many of the same muscles – chest, shoulders, and triceps. Then there’s the fact that you’re racing against the clock so you can stop doing burpees every minute.

We’re NOT going to do Kalsu. Instead, our workout will be a mashup of Kalsu and Fran, so that we’re using Fran weight and movements (95/65# thrusters and pullups) mashed together with the structure of Kalsu (accumulate thrusters, stop every minute for the alternate exercise). And we’re going to do it with a partner so you get a break every minute, and so that it’s more fun.
