CrossFit Beat is proud to endorse the Healthy Boulder Kids initiative, which seeks to institute a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. Cities around the world are starting to institute these taxes as a way to reduce diabetes and obesity. The CrossFit Journal recently published an article about this very issue.
This measure will fund health programs within the city to improve nutrition and physical activity, especially among low-income residents. It enacts a two cents per ounce excise on soda and other sugary drinks sold in the City of Boulder. You can read the full measure that has been filed here.
